Fire, Ready, Aim

This is an administrative message to every person who has logged on to this private web site:

When the planning committee decided to honor Coach Dale Meddock with a "Guys Night Out", we felt that he did not want a banquet, with the spotlight on him, while boring speeches were given. Therefore, no speakers nor speeches will be presented at PNC Park and the Springhill Suites on Saturday, June 28th. Instead we planned an informal gathering that will reunite him with many of his former students, athletes, friends, and admirers. We expect it to be a fun and enjoyable evening.

We do realize that Dale deserves to be toasted for all his accomplishments, especially the impact that he has had on so many of us. Therefore, this web page was created to give everyone an opportunity to pay tribute, whether or not you are able to attend our "Guys Night Out".

No one is grading your tribute, so Fire, Ready, Aim! When you log on the first time, please post a comment about your thoughts and memories of Dale. In a day, week, or month later, log on to the host web site, "blogger.com", and click view blog (A Collection of Tributes to Coach Dale Meddock), then add more thoughts to your posted comment or edit it how ever you want.

Take time to read the other posts and leave a comment to that author by clicking on the comment link. After Saturday, June 28th, Dale will be invited to visit this site to read and interact with his own postings and comments.

Welcome to this web blog dedicated to the recording of personal tributes to Dale Meddock by his former students, athletes, colleagues, and friends!

To add your tribute to this site, you are expected to comply with the following points:

1. This is a serious tribute to Mr. Meddock (not a roast). You are not limited in length nor in brevity of words.
2. To initiate your tribute, click on the "new post" button at the top right of this web page. Then begin creating a first draft that you can freely edit over time. A "help" button that will answer any question you might have is located in the upper right corner of the edit post page. When you are ready to post it for all to see, simply click the "publish post" button. Even after you publish your post, you still will be able to change it at any time.
3. Even if you were not able to attend the June 2008 "Guys Night Out" celebration, we are sure that Coach Meddock (and others) would appreciate reading your written regards for him! Please use your real name when posting your tribute and please complete your profile for others to see.
4. If you have any pictures and/or videos of Coach Meddock, it would be great if you would add or link them to your tribute.
5. As a member of this web blog, you will have the opportunity to add comments to other posted tributes, and send email to their authors.
6. In June of 2008, we honored Coach Meddock at his surprise celebration, he was then shown this web blog.
7. Some of your written comments were used in a tribute video that was produced and shown at the "Guy's Night Out" celebration. It was also posted to youtube.com and linked here under postings.
